Virus-associated hemophagocytic syndrome(VAHS) is a nonneoplastic generalized histocytic proliferation with marked hemophagocytosis associated with systemic viral infections such as Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalvirus, adenovirus, herpes virus,
etc.
High fever, liver dysfunction, coagulation abnormality and periphral blood cytopenias are characteristic findings. Hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, bilat, pulmonary infiltratons, and skin rash are often present.
We report a case of Hepatitis B virus-associated hemophagocytic syndrome with brief review of literature.
